Hi folks,
Client has a very expensive, commercial Stairmaster that he cannot use
anymore. He listed it on craigslist for $800 and never received any
calls. Now he received an email from a non-profit (I checked, they are
on the IRS list) wanting him to donate it to their Teen Obesity
Division. The part that makes me uncomfortable is that they are
offering him a receipt stating the value is $3020.
Can he claim that amount as a full donation? Is it similar to donating
a car to a charity that they keep? I'd appreciate some guidance.
Thank you as always.
Sandy
