Mel,

That must be the same rumor that I heard.... that the IRS wanted to eliminate RAL's this year because all refunds would now be processed within 72 hours.

I think it's going to take an act of Congress for the IRS to mandate e-filing. My personal opinion is that it will be part legistlation dealing with unlicensed preparers.

 

The flip side of this is that within a couple of years, clients due a refund will have it deposited within 2-3 days of e-filing.
